Double build: Zaskar and P7 RS

You Numpty! , maybe that will teach you to make sure at least the rear mech has the limit screws set to prevent such incidents from happening again in future so yes it's an excuse to sort the Zaskar although it's still cost you a rear mech  .

In all the 30 odd years of cycling i've never done that although i did have it happen to a 6 month old Falcon road bike that i'd lent a friend for a week which was a campagnolo which my friend kindly replaced with a £5 Huret  needless to say when i expressed my discuss he just replied well it works  ..

So by the time you read this you'll have sorted the Zaskar then ;) ..

The annoying thing is the same mech came off the road p7 earlier and as far as I know didn't have the limit screws altered - I assumed it would go back on without dramas, albeit in just remember to sort smooth shifts out kind of way. Live and learn- at least it was a tatty one anyway!

Shark fin here - drilled and badly fitted! Will see what arrives tomorrow- if the shim isn't here for the p7 I'll need to take the brake mounts off it. I suspect o will anyway tbh- very keen to ride the rainbow. Maybe I'll just do it this evening...

Hopefully last pic before ready to ride-

Fashioned a brake mount washer thing, although brakes (came with p7 frame) don't seem at all springy- might have an issue there, currently have them bathing in wd40! Washer thing will work fine though until my old mans get done. Need pink cable ties for the fin. Decals en route...

Nope ! rule no 1 is never take anything for granted and at least double check everything that's screwed or bolted when assembly work is involved on any vehicle otherwise you could be putting your life at risk besides vital body parts ..

The sharkfin looks okay in the pic and the zip ties don't look to bad even though pink would look more the part so yes i'd sort the Zaskar tonight as it will probably be less hassle in the long run oh dear brake fitting and issuses mm i hope the wd sorts things out with the boing! and fingers crossed their won't be any hic ups! with the washer thing but you seem confident enough so it must be okay..

Aye! the decals have still got just under a week so patience ;) and that orange bottle cage certainly looks well 8) ..

Realised I dont have the shim for the mech yet so couldnt complete last night... if it doesnt arrive today I may well have to make it work without, although should probably just be patient.

In other news it looks like my P7 will have to be moved on eventually- paid for an RC300 frame this morning which will replace the black P7 (ie bits transferred onto it). I'll most likely sell the nickel P7 too, although I may do a toss up between that and my more modern bike after riding a bit. Either way I suspect one bike and one frame will have to go... still, Pace RC300!!!

Okay then so the shim and decals turned up " Awesome " and the decals look great by the way even if i can't see them properly just yet and i kinda expected you saying the P7 should be moved on soon and here you go for a little possible glimps of how the RC300 could look ,

viewtopic.php?t=146840#p1100813

So glad all the bits turned up today so you can carry on with your lovely builds 8) and i agree it may just be a mistake to get rid of the Nickel P7 if it rides better than your modern bike so looks like as you say a few rides are in order ..

The RC300 should make a great trail bike when you've sorted it mate and that i can't wait to see ;) ..

Ta da!

Just needs inner cables putting on and the chain and I should be able to ride! Work this eve so either tomorrow night or the weekend for the first ride.

Meanwhile p7 is good to go and may get a ride tomorrow! Only thing missing there is the dash of yellow, which I have but am undecided about. Might use it on the zaskar and get a pair of yellow cage bolts instead...

Re:

Oh good ! so nearly ready once cable and chain is sorted :) and whats with moving the bottle cage to the down tube then ? .
I'm certainly liking the decals fitted with the sharkfin looking more at home to although i had to use the Wifes tab to get a clearer pic of the decals as my net book is that old now pics aren't as clear as they are on modern pc's ..

Glad to see the P7 is ready to go then so get out on it tomorrow and let us know how it goes and yes i totally agree about getting that dash of yellow on the Zaskar as it will go nicely ..

Bottle cage move is mech related- hoping I can move it back if I can find spacers, I think I prefer it on the seat tube.

Hoping to get on the p7 in the morning... just relies on me getting out of bed in time!
