Double build: Zaskar and P7 RS

I can relate to that after a couple of spells of recovery- try not to get too caught up in the frustrating side of things is my advice, although I know that is easier said than done. Assuming you're in that recovery phase try not to rush things or get too frustrated waiting for things to happen. All the best to you!

We have had a few months of frustration due to illness in the family and are in the process of recovering from our loss but were getting there ..

I was in the process of recovery but now am expecting another op hence why i said it could be another couple of months before i can ride my favourite bike but i know given more time i should be right this time ..

It all happens at the same time with life doesnt it? Sorry to hear you've had all that on- hope that once the next op is done you can concentrate on the end of it all...

So, test ride complete and first impressions are that I've always ridden bikes that are too big for me! Excellent ride- I did a similar one to one I do on my maxlight- a mixture of on road, gravel, mud bridal-way and stone track... handled superbly and noticably easier going on my wrist and quicker, albeit in a maxlight currently has a ridiculously heavy rear wheel with very wide tyre on. Fits great though, which is a releif given its a similar sizing to the incomming rc300.

Cheers mate ;) and yes fingers crossed i can focus on just recovering after this next op as i don't intend on going another year without riding my favourite bike after waiting 28 years to get it .

Well the obvious difference between the bikes is the forks and pedals then those lovely turqiouse battle cage bolts which would blend in nicely on my Fire Mountain and you've not got much in the way of added colour on the P7 with the red head stem spacers sat underneath that multi coloured Dean stem and those bottle cage bolts unless you add the grey of the flat bars and looks like grey on the back of your saddle and yes i forgot the other difference between the bikes which is the added Crud Catcher ;) ..

Any way it's almost like looking at twins and lovely twins at that as i'd of been more than happy to have either in my stable ;) ..

Looks like you had a great ride and the weather has been good to you to which is welcome and it seems to me that size isn't an issue with the P7 which is always a relief as theirs nothing more annoying then be cramped up on a ride as i found that out on my old Trekker many moons ago so you've had everything on your side today and have yes sometimes heavy rear wheels can spoil a ride by throwing the bike out of balance which doesn't seem to be the case with your maxlight which must be due to how far forward you sit on the bike so any way have you got another ride planned then for the lovely steed or you waiting to take the lovely Zaskar out for a blast as i'd ride em both at the same time if i could  so seriously where do you think this leaves your choice of what your keeping and what's going as i have a feeling that the P7 will be a keeper going by how it's gone ..

Working on the zaskar now and hope to get out on this evening...

P7 wise I wont do anything until I've done the RC300- Ill make the call once that has gotten together. Initial thoughts are that I could add 'proper' suspension forks to the maxlight and use it for 'proper' mtb routes. It will be hard to lose the P7 given I've had one for 20 years... I probably won't 'need' to lose any so will see how it all pans out- what I dont want to do is have a couple of bikes sat not getting used, so as long as I can keep them all in action they may well all stay. Its a nice challenge to have!

How lovely knowing the Zaskar is being sorted again 8) ..

It would be great to see the P7 stay after all that time of having one as i'm certain it will feel strange without one but on the other hand you've had the experience of owning and riding one and if you sort the max light out to use on the mtb routes then it should do job nicely and like you say it's more a case of building up the RC300 and then deciding where you go from there as you can have too many bikes which would leave the less favoured ones just gathering dust which would just be a waste so it's just a case of mulling things over after you've ridden your bikes a bit to see what suits your needs best although if i'm honest if i was given the chance i'd never of got rid of any bikes i'd had over the years except for the hybrid that i owned as i was never really taken by it tbh ..
