Hello xxxxx,
xyandz recently opened a case to cancel a transaction for an item you recently purchased: brand new, unridden specialized camber expert large, still sealed.

Reason for request to cancel the transaction: The seller says that you have purchased the item in error.

Click the 'Respond now' button to accept or decline this cancellation.

If you don't take action by 10-Apr-2012, the seller will be able to cancel the purchase without your consent.

so the guy cancels the transation and that leaves me where? I have the bike, he has the cash, of which it seems he doesnt want to pay ebay their cut

it would explain why I have been getting these messages?

Thanks for your recent purchase on eBay! Please remember to pay for your item so that the seller can send it to you as soon as possible.

Note: If you've already made payment arrangements with your seller, please disregard this reminder.

Thanks again for shopping on eBay!

apart from that the bike rides great :)

Yes means the seller doesn't want to pay ebay's 10% cut!

If you agree to cancel the transaction they will be refunded the fees.

A bit cheeky really and not possible to do if you paid by paypal but fairly common when using cash on collection. He should have mentioned the plan when you collected!

Be cheeky back and ask to share half of the fee refund ;)

Assuming he did not give you a discount, the ball is really in your court. When I have sold items 'off' Ebay I have usually absorbed the costs, given a wee discount. You could have marked the item as paid.

Report it to ebay. Seller cannot leave you bad feedback anyway. But you need the sale logged.

If the bike turns out to be either:
a) stolen or
b) otherwise defective
you will have zero comeback.

The guy has already identified himself as dishonest - are you sure you are going to trust him about the bike?

When you click on links to various merchants on this site and make a purchase, this can result in this site earning a commission. Affiliate programs and affiliations include, but are not limited to, the eBay Partner Network.
Its just like any other cash sale TBH. I wouldn't worry about it, lifes too short and ebay are never going to bother investigating it. Technically its defrauding ebay out of their cut so just don't respond or if you do respond don't be complicit in the fraud.

As an aside, ebay are making money hand over fist, just imagine how much cash 10% of ebay sales is in one hour.....

PS nice bike - so his fee owed to ebay is over a hundred quid. People don't necessarily realise ebay fees are 10% as they are little obtuse in their advertising of fees, all people see if 40p to list and go for it....
