Disc mount adapter questions

I have an IS caliper on a PM fork with a 180 rotor and a Hope +20 adapter. That works. But there's no way I can see that the caliper could get any nearer the fork for a smaller rotor.

With Mikes' testimony, backed up by ex Shimano tech . . . think I'm settled on the info ;)

It looks like that pink one and the A2Z one are meant to be just the job but, having just thrown a few quids away on this adaptor, I'm erring on the side of caution (and listening to the voice(s) of experience) this time ;)

8) cool
i have no experience of is calipers so just do what the big companies tell me to do

Fair point - I wasn't going to send anyone to A2Z looking for an adapter Shimano didn't make now was I? But basically - the question I was answering was whether the Shimano adapter that the poster had bought was suitable for the job or not.

Looking at the specs, the AD-ISPM160 adapter from A2Z SHOULD work.

Ditto that... plus I've only just found out what IS and post mounts are

Ian . . . hereinafter known as. . . . the poster . . . .

No. The AD-ISPM160 is for putting a PM caliper on an IS fork. Ian "The Poster" wishes to fit an IS caliper to a PM fork. The A2Z adapter to do that is the AD-PMF74, which also requires a rotor 20mm bigger.

The only question left remaining is what the KCNC adapter does. It claims to do what we're looking for, but (a) it looks exactly the same as a Hope +20 adapter and (b) it ought not to be physically possible to do that anyway :)

I'm just settled with the info from here and working on a solution that I'm hoping will end with a better caliper, no adaptors and a 180 rotor. . . .

Or, if that fails. . . . a cheap 180 rotor and an adaptor 8)

a better caliper, no adaptors and a 180 rotor. . .

Did you mean "160" there? At risk of things getting even more confusing, any caliper will need an adaptor to use a 180mm rotor unless the mount on the fork is a 180mm native one (which it probably isn't, unless it's a big, long-travel fork). Standard PM caliper straight on to a normal PM fork will need 160. Add a +20 adaptor for 180.
