I have just bought a Dave Russell frame from eBay. Upon inspection I noticed the rear of the fork crown where the brake bolt exits has been bored out to 8mm at a depth of 1.3 to 1.4mm. The rest of the brake hole is 6mm, like you would find in a normal nutted brake fitment fork. Would this be OK to use with a nutted brake setup? My thoughts are someone started to drill an 8mm hole for a recessed brake fitment and gave up, although it does seem strange. What would my options be.. use a standard 6mm nutted brake mount, get it drilled all the way through to 8mm or braze fill the missing material?
