Now some of my bikes are getting a few tweaks and stuff by someone that has the ability to fix things better than this ham fisted Idiot. I thought I'd get another little project bike done for Icono... I've been wanting to use a suspension 'seat assembly' thing I've had for ages now, but just didn't have suitable donor until now, thanks Adrian. Cannondale M500 in commuter mode wasn't really doing for me, so... I'm changing a few things.

Re:

I still have to sort the oily bits out also tyres and try and do a bit of touch up on the paint, any help with a colour match for the paint would be good, like a pot of touch up paint laying around in the shed etc..? ;-)

Replacement bits so far after the de-clutter, Sofride stem, Ritchey bars, ODI's, seat post thing and an old saggy Flite, for my old saggy arse.

Anyhoo, I'm liking this build and so is the Judge as it keeps me off the streets. As he said in his summing up ''You are not only a danger to yourself, but to the wider public at large. For f*cks sake Mr Neal, go and build some weird sh*t and give us all a bit of piece''

That seat post thing is bizarre :!:
But the engineer in me likes it

I find over engineered bikes and components fascinating... just how someone spends that much time effort and money on such a thing amazes me.

Can we see it being compressed as I'd love to those parallelograms or trapezoidal ugamaflip linkages working.... How does it control compression / rebound and can you tune it for the riders weight.

It has no compression/rebound control or damping, it has three alloy 'platforms' with links connecting them and two elastomers sandwiched between... I could change the bumpers, although I've not ridden it yet so don't know how it will work for my weight.

Hi Al,

Are you sure that it is a '91?
My very first mountain bike was a '93 m500 exactly the same color
with an Altus A10/Exage combo.

I really like your build. brings back memories
