Calling all FSR owners!

Re:

Hi mate, assuming your fsr is a 1999 the same a mine, I don't recall there being any spacers. That said, i can't see how the bearing could sit flush with the frame without any :?
These pictures are over 5 years old so unfortunately I can't guarantee anything from memory But have a look, and they may be of some use viewtopic.php?t=102701&start=15

My advice is that the bolt should be long enough, so pop in some spacers and see how you get on. I don't see any reason as to why they shouldn't work. After all their only purpose is to fill the gap between the bearing and the frame. I would also create a small plastic bushing to go under the spacer to prevent it from digging into the frame over time

Hope that helps, Sean

You can use washers in between the inner bearing hole and the frame, but you would need to make sure they dont touch the outer race of the bearing, otherwise it wont move up and down, the stock bike must have some kind of spacers/washers to suit.
That bolt you have on yours, is that a tight fit inside the bikes main frame? (it looks smaller on the photo)

The 98 versions with the beefy chain stays (no hole through them) have a big washer on the drive side to align them, but they also have top hat washers fitted as well to prevent any metal on metal (none drive side) and metal on spacer (drive side) contact.

If you can source some 98 chain stays then your BETD kit will mount straight up with no issues, you will have the bonus of getting a stronger chain stay on the bike (i dont recall anybody ever cracking the early ones? the later ones with a hole always crack)

I know my bike also has the stock GC seat stays (but does have the disc mount hole), that's what it came with, i suspect somebody removed the rear triangle and bolted on a GC version (probably as the stock one cracked)

Here is a picture of my old 98 GC just after i resprayed it, it shows off the early (IMO stronger) chain stays

I keep meaning to build this bike back up to sell it, but i never get around to it :/
