Busy wkend - must show my hard work!

Morning!

Well 1st project for the wkend started friday evening, stripped some Rockshox Judy mongrels (made from 3 forks with the help of speedplay - thanks mate) ready for spraying. My 1st attempt of home spraying with rattle cans of plasticote & to say I'm pleased is an understatement. Took my time over 3 days to sand down, primer, sand, primer, sand, primer, gloss, sand, gloss, laquer - you get the picture!

Here's the results, just waiting on main decals:

I then fitted some mag 21's aquired form Kingroon (ta dude) to the Explosif. Also chucked on some nice clear ATI boots thanks to Archangel

Finally I finished off building the misses' bike, main body bought from Scant (ta!), personalizing(?!) decals from Gil_m (cheers) & then rebuilt using bits I had lying about

All in all a darn good wkend & all thanks to the retro community we have on this site

I then went for a ride on the Explosif sunday afternoon in glorious sunshine

A happy Drapoon

Very nice mate. That feeling of a job well done is what I was talking about when I posted a thread about painting a set of forks, a lot of advice was get it done professionally but theres just something about taking a bit of time and doing it yourself.

Yes mate, indeed. Sure there were screw-up's along the way but the end result is better than I could have ever hoped for.

Only trouble is I'm now armed & dangerous looking for other things to spray!

paint job isnt finished! you really need to let it dry for 2 weeks then cut it back with farecla G10 then a final polish with normal car polish, this will remove any orange peel effect.this isnt essential but is worth doing for a top job ;) great effort though :)

cheers for comments fellas.

I would polish the forks some more but I'd rather get them dirty now

Put your clear boots in the post this lunchtime Doug 8)
