We've had some of the deepest snow I've ever known on the hills 'round here in Matlock; knee deep everywhere and up to your chest in places! Well I couldn't resist the childish sense of adventure, so paid a visit to one of my 'secret' camp spots, dug a bit of a snow hole and bedded down.
A surprisingly cosy night considering temperatures fell to -14 outside. But despite efforts to brush off snow the night before, morning arrived in a bit of a soggy mess. Down sleeping bags and thawed snow don't get along. At all. :?
All in all a lot of fun, and things didn't become quite as 'Laurel and Hardy' as I'd anticipated.
..It's amazing just how good porridge and a cuppa can taste in such beautiful surroundings.....
The few miles trudge home was epically hard though, like wading through treacle. Talk about knackered!
