Had 2 back op's last year due to a disc problem ... most are caused by discs

Do these show up on x-ray?

NHS method to dick about for 6 months (the words of the Doc) and hope you feel better or get bored

I am immune to their scheming ways. . .

Xray only really show bone so you need a MRA for soft tissue damage (told you they pull your chain)

M8 of mine has only just had a MRA after 5 years !!! they kept telling there was nothing they can do ... turns out he has a disc problem (happy he know wot the problem not happy with NHS)

Last quack assumed muscular and prescribed nonsense gel (which is for sale, in identical packaging and everything, in the local 99p store for.. . . . 99p)..

At least this one progressed a little. . . :roll:

That gel is flipping dreadful. . . it's lower back too (top of my sacrum and down into my coccyx) - now giving me grief from the harvest sites for the bone grafts I had a few years back. .

Wore a t-shirt in bed to stop the gloop making the bed linen minging..

I already take Paracetamol, Tramadol and Diclofenac so more pills were out of the question

Oh you will need some contrast via IV to show the difference if you have scare tissue

OxyContin is much better than Paracetamol Tramadol ... you have to come off it slowly afterwards !!

Most hospitals are fully digital so your Doc should be able see your xrays almost the next day

(My MRA was done 30 miles away from the DOCs and he just went online to look at them)

I am completely dependant on Tramadol already.. went through hell when my new GP halved the dosage.. fortunately he left the slow release stuff alone.

Got a new referral to the local pain management team who I'm hoping will get my dosage back up to a decent level..

Yeah . . nice theory. . last lot took 3 weeks for me to get the results, and I pestered them from day 10.

With no pain relive it felt like my ankle had just broken when laying down and stab in the leg when stood up !

Had the Tramadol which made no difference .... The Oxy is for nerve pain

You should have better luck with local pain team than your Doc as it sounds the Tramadol is not helping

I had back trouble for years - it went away when I bought a good memory foam bed, only occasionally get pain now.

Down side is they do get a bit hot though, we never use more than a 5 tog quilt.

Pleased you said good memory foam because there's some absolute crap out there.

As for the heat issue we do a memory foam mattress which is covered in coolmax. Guy i work with got really hot in his old mattress, swapped for the cool max and he's fine now. Definately works.

Assuming you are not ready for a new mattress there's a company called keys of clackton who make cool max fitted sheets. Not cheap but could be worth it. Think they are about 60 quid. If you do contact them tell them dave at brigg beds sent you. Pm me if you want their number.

Don't think the Tramadol has been much use for a while.. only ever 'levelled' the playing field if I took 1000mg a day and I can't sustain that because the 'scrip' was half that (and now, half that again :roll: )..

Mine is not so much nerve pain (although I do have both radial ulnar nerves pinched) as bone pain.. which, apparently, is a bitch to get effective relief for..
