August's MBR £100 challange - silly or a dig at 'retro'?

My idea of trail centres is to catch the looks on the 'all the gear' riders as I bomb past on something with no suspension, no disc brakes and no talent...

What's a trail centre?

BB

A place frequented by overweight, middle aged people with very expensive modern full sus bikes go to get radical.

Looks like I've only got to get the "expensive full suspension bike" and I'm in then - can't wait.......

A general lack of riding skill and trail etiquette goes with it as well so your probably not part of the club!

Oh dear,

I love riding at trail centres and I'm none of the above, well, approaching middle age but not there yet. I've never ridden a full sus either.

If in order to be considered a member of the 'retrobike club' you have to not ride at trail centres, there's a lot of you missing out on some great trails. Shame.

Don't get me wrong, I love trail centres as well, Carmarthen has some of the best MTBing I've ever done. The problem is a lot of these places are frequented by people that don't ride anywhere else (or ride much for that matter) and can be a danger to themselves and other people!

Anyway, I digress.

Thinking about it, I'm strictly speaking well past middle age now (just old, then?) and I'm not more than 2 kgs. overweight.
I guess that I don't fit in anywhere now

I wouldn't worry.

That whole "fit in" thing is overrated anyways.

Actually, I tend to agree with that - I don't really bother to try.

And my wife would say that I sometimes seem to take a perverse delight in being difficult to categorise :)

My wife probably says similar things. Thing is, though, it doesn't tend to be accompanied with a smile...

Ploughing your own furrow, though, to me is a positive thing.
