Bikes for riding -

^^ the Forme at the back.

and a winter bike -

Storage for built bikes is a problem - that is a bit obvious!LOL

Hope there's none taken.

I think that maybe dropping the wheels in is fine but 'preserving' bare frames?

Not for me. I have a 53 Armstrong that I'm preserving as a full bike that would take 10 mins preparation to ride. To me they need to be available to use. To experience. To appreciate their characteristics.

As promised here I present the Bike Garage in its current condition. Words do it no justice so I will let the pictures speak for themselves...

Steven, what are those odd looking bikes with the flat bars & fat tyres??? :D

Richard, how do you keep the white bar tape on your bikes so pristine??? :)

I'm glad I don't have that much space to fill up, I think i'd be lost in a sea of bike parts!

The bar tape follows the same principle as those life forms that live in the depths of the oceans. Colour is not necessary as there's never enough light exposure to make it worthwhile. Eventually all of those bikes will become transparent.

Very deep indeed! I'll have to contemplate my inner crustacean to see if I can find an answer.

Yes Finney, the reason the collecting has gotten out of hand is because of those flat bar bikes. Plus some very fine machines are pretty cheap right now so it is hard to resist.

That is deep Historyman!! like an ocean.

Fair enough, I couldn't tell you a good (expensive) MTB from a bad (inexpensive) MTB.
Slightly scared by the doll you have hung up I must admit.
What's the (bronze?) bike hung up in the bottom picture with the red bartape?

Mr History,

Just got round to this! It is clean because I always wear gloves when handling it. It is also reasonably easy tape to keep clean - unlike my Forme which is grubby.

I hope this clarifies the question/statement.

Richard

p.s. OH - and i never take it out! LOOOL
