Armageddon! Save one bike, which one?

OK, you have 5 minutes to pack the escape pod, and you can only fit one bike in there, this escape pod is somewhat roomier than the Chilean miners had.

What bike will you take? (It can be any bike you have had or not had.)

Just one, and why that one?

Me, it is my 'dammit for selling it' 99 Mantra Race. Just about the best do it all bike I ever had with a shock upgrade.

Saying that, I would of course try to sneak in a good steel hard tail, most likely the Jamis Dragon.



For all the haters, I could have just asked what is your favourite all time bike, but that would be fractionally less breath takingly fascinating. As unlikely a possibility as that seems.

Mine would be BMX Stolen Heater. I am a fan of small bikes like this rather than mountain bikes. It is more handy for me. What I love about this bike, aside from its color (red). Is its superb body. This is my dream bike. I'm still saving for one.

The bike I have now, why, because I know it, every bit of it and trust it, that ancient early 90's XT stuff just seems to go on forever, what one needs if survival is the name of the game, dependable quality, no frills, just does the job asked of it, a cart horse perhaps as opposed to a race horse.

Friction shifting, excellent when things get kind of worn.

My old Santa Cruz Superlight would be the one I would take. Because it had looks, class and rode beautifully.

Although my RM Altitude would have an S&S coupling attached,so I could sneek it in the back door!!

Easy choice for me, only got one left now so guess the 93 Merlin Mountain would be coming along

Sort of choice I had when deciding to just keep one and actually do some riding rather than buying,building and selling bikes mostly at a loss

Don't suppose it will last although my other hobby (Photography) is even harder on the wallet
