Are there knock off peanut butter spanners?

Had a bit of a look for a strange present..... I reckon from the photos of some I`ve seen the casting & finishing looks rubbish, a bit like a poor quality `railway memorabilia` item or a fake £1 coin. Is someone on the make?

Where are you looking? I need one, or a thin wall socket, to use for its original purpose and don't want it bending when I go to use it.

I bought a 15mm spanner (specifically for bike wheel nuts) on ebay for £1 something including postage. When it arrived, I was really impressed by how well made it is.

On the other hand, the cut-out 'spanner' that was in a puncture repair kit I bought at a pound shop in an emergency when I found that I hadn't tightened my wheel properly one day and it moved - the less said about that the better.

I don't get the 'Campagnolo peanut butter wrench' thing, for the sort of money they sell for you could buy a full set of Snap-On spanners

My answer was to get an old 15mm combination spanner and chop off the open end leaving the ring end and stem...job jobbed

I bought a combined pedal spanner and crank bolt spanner from ice toolz and its really quite robust :) bitd the campag peanut butter wrench was just another spanner kickibg around the workshop. The small spanner to adjust brakes probably got more use.

Re: wrench

I have an old Park CCW-2 that has a 14,15,and 16mm socket wrench that I kept with my track racing kit. I don't know if they still make them or not.

See eBay item 390828292500 for an example...
In practical terms, the 15mm bolt that fits older cranks to the bottom bracket is recessed in such a close hole that normal sockets won't work.

ah cheers I know which spanner you mean.

Ive got 2, a 14mm and a 15mm one, both made by cyclo, had them 30 years or so.

Not sure where peanut butter comes into it though, but maybe if I ate the stuff i would see the relevance.

Re:

The story is that during 6 day racing on the Continent the exhausted riders would have a quick recharge with a dollop of peanut butter scooped out of the jar with the handle of the spanner, which is shaped nicely for such a function. As with quite a lot of old Campag stuff it`s become `collectable` in it`s own right as `art` to some & as such some nutters will buy it & put it in a glass case.
Some of those I`d seen on Ebay looked to be a poor quality finish & not what you`d expect from Campag, who would spend a lot of time on form & function & finish.
I was proposing being such a nutter as my lad is a keen cyclist & loves his Aldi peanut butter, but at the sort of prices being made I think I`ll just buy him a spoon & 10kg of the high energy high fat greasy nut product.
