Hello..

Just pondering brakes at the moment.. I considering KCNC or Pauls's Motolites... BUT, what is the solution for the reasr brakes? Has anyone managed to internally route a cable directly to the V-Brake?

If its a no go, then I will go with Cant's, but I need stopping power..

Cheers

I have always had internally routed vbrakes on my klein Adroit 1999 without problems. But avoid KCNC, they don't look very rigid. Choose Paul. I've had luck with Mrazek and Marivovative (more or less the same brake)

No, I haven't but you can find some here:

there are many klein catalogues, and, for example in 1997 they mounted vbrakes. however, it's easy: the hole from which the wire comes out should act as a cable stop. So you just need to cut a cable from the hole itself to the vbrake noodle, and that's done. Hope I explained myself, you know, I'm not sure I've used the right terms...

1997 and younger Kleins are Vbrake ready (i.e. they have a housing stop built into the frame). the earlier frames are not suited for vbrakes.

you can either drill the cable outlet hole larger to route the housing from the brake to the cable inlet which it then uses as stop - or remove the stop in the inlet and run the housing from the lever to the brake. just note that drilling the frame will reduce it's (collectors) value. and if you do it be careful to not damage the paint.

Klein offered a V-daptor which converted the outlet hole into a cable stop. not easy to find these days

here's another smart solution but it is custom made and not readily available

or you can use a step down cable housing ferrule with a tiny end (used for derailleur cables on older road bikes) that sticks into the cable outlet hole but it will sooner or later damage the paint or even eat into the aluminum.

finally, you can run the casing from the lever to the brake and zip-tie it to the top tube...

or just run cantis, they are more than powerful enough on the rear anyways ;)
