The energy demands of AI are colossal. It's not for nothing that Amazon, Google and Meta want to triple the world's nuclear power by 2050 (https://www.technologyreview.com/2025/05/20/1116327/ai-energy-usage-climate-footprint-big-tech/). No doubt, there are very good uses for AI in medicine and other areas that justify some increased energy usage, but is it really worth it for trivial purposes like compiling 'Show Us Your Hooger Boogers' threads?

My electric car took about 10MWh to build.
Given its about 2x as efficient as our diesel car, its going to have to drive 30,000 miles to be greener than something that isn't very green at all. 🤔
Now, where is my bike?
