Some of you will be aware that the Peachy/Our Jimmy’s Velo collection had a major cull just before Christmas of over 20 frames/bikes & assorted parts, which swelled the PayPal war chest somewhat.
Certainly enough to appease Mrs Peachy and build a RetroMod Pace for the lad.
Now, about a quarter of those funds came from the sale of Jim’s bikes which included his ‘77 Cavalier & Campagnolo covered ‘89 “Stars & Stripes” Concorde Astore.

Now the lad has no road bike to his name (I'm not counting his tiny Electron Superfive wall hanger...)

So what did Our Jimmy spend his Dads hard earned cash on?

Well a 1994 (we think) Colnago Master Piu Decor....

A little worse for wear, with plenty of chips and poor touch ups also some tired chrome here & there....

Not sure which way to go yet, we’ve got enough mid 90’s Campy to do the job, but also a whole group of new stuff that we’re not sure would fit. I’m thinking a dry build up or maybe even a full build before deciding what to do regarding frame restoration.

Re: '94 Colnago Master Piu Decor

Obviously Our Jimmy, who, lets face it has never had cheap tastes when helping himself to my kit  fancied the idea of saving the 90's Campy kit "for when you want to take it back to old school spec Dad" and helped himself to a full group of 2010-ish Super Record 11 speed!

I wasn't sure it would fit, but alas, apart from the front brake needing an extra spacer it fitted perfectly... just need to buy some brake blocks and bar tape and sort out pedals and he'll be off....

I wonder how many Master Piu's are sub 9kg? IMG_9970.webp IMG_9973.webp IMG_9972.webp IMG_9974.webp IMG_9979.webp IMG_9977.webp IMG_9971.webp

Looking good, as for paint restoration, I can’t remember what thread it was on here, it was a moment ago, I remember a Colnago that was a bit war scared going to atlantic-boulevard.co.uk for a retouch/refresh and it came back looking a million dollars.

Might be worth a look.

The frame has had a bunch of scratches & chips filled and touched up using I assume a small airbrush, unfortunately the red match wasn’t spot on and was used pretty much everywhere.
I had a crack at T-cutting some of this back but there’s just so much of it.
I’m going to let the lad ride it this year as it is and then consider re-chroming and possibly have a crack at my own “Decor”

Must be a big lad as that looks like a 59 or 60cm frameset??

Yes... just turned 14 and 5’10”
I think by the time he’s stopped growing (maybe 18?) he’ll be about 6’2” - 6’3” , granted that seat post will be right down this summer but we’ll blink and it’ll be out at its max!

This is what happens when we bring them up with an appreciation of quality. You must be very proud.

Think how much worse things could have been if it had been all gaming set ups and Enduro bikes...

Oh definitely a proud Dad... some might say I spoil him with all this lovely stuff, but he's a top lad and certainly appreciates what some of this kit is (I think he quite likes showing off to his mates Dads)

One thing I am a little concerned about is how I'm going to keep up with him, here he is on his 13kg plain gauged friction geared CB '77 Cavalier last summer at the Jack Taylor ride (that's me in the distance ) he was gutted we had to bail that day as I was still nursing a pair of cracked ribs :|

Re: '94 Colnago Master Piu Decor

Well, it’s built up ready for the lad to get some training in... I know it looks a bit scrappy still, but the idea is for Our Jimmy to ride it this summer, then we’ll strip it in the autumn, get the chrome sorted then respray.
Oh and yes I know the seat post is about 4” higher than what the lad can sit on right now but I’m not going to cut a Campagnolo Record carbon post down until we’ve finished the full restoration, as the Master square tubing only allows about 120mm of post inside so it’s not like I can just drop the post all the way down. With the lad growing like he’s eaten magic beans I might need all the length it’s got in a year or two! A neat aluminium short jobby for now.
