You should go through ebay, send them a request to cancel your bid, then when the auction ends, if your sole bid turns out to be the winning bid, you can refuse to pay it, and ask to cancel the transaction due to a major revision made by the seller after you had already placed your bid. Ebay will have a record of your attempt to cancel your bid, and will most likely keep you from a negative strike on your feedback. Inform the seller of the actions you will take if your bid is not canceled. It's only fair.

hiya, i thought i'd got the first bid in - just for the cooks really, went to bed - then got the email at 8:35am saying the cooks had gone.
