2015 Austro-Daimler TT Carbon Limited.

Took long enough along with much more advanced Tech than in Alf’s day! Just shows you how good Alf really was & he himself said he was on for a 47min ride when he called pulled over by the cops…..on the famous Swanscombe Cutting course…
It does kinda make you wonder what Alf would have done in today’s world when you have access to the latest tech, science, nutrition etc…

Alf was a demon on the bike, but riding down the middle of a busy dual carriageway is going to skew results. It is why people went to those courses and I know you still have to pedal and breathe, but assistance is assistance.
I remember testers scoffing at times set by particular riders, on the drag strips, and from my one go at a 30 ,on one of them , i understand how that came about. I could never have done 27mph average, over 30 miles, anywhere else. I wasn't even on a lo-pro ffs!

A real test would have been an hour record attempt back then and then time machine him to present day to have a go on a current track bike.

Their steel frame bikes are stunning. I was stationed in Berlin in my late teens and they were everywhere. Unfortunately I did not have the Dosh (marks then) to buy one.
I built a 80's A-D Superleicht Resto-Mod earlier this year, sort of a parts bin special, A mix of 10 speed Dura-Ace and Campagnolo Record. So here it is in all of its funky glory.
As a side note sometime next year, all the kit on this bike will be transferred over to a wonderful Rotrax sportive/light touring frame with a wonderful history behind it.

And I would like to say "Thank You" to everyone who has contributed to this thread as it makes everything more interesting and fun with all the fine cyclists involved.
Also life and housework is getting the priority at the moment. I must make progress on this because the wife will stop feeding me otherwise o_O.

Best Wishes: Mike
