1995 Claud Butler Titanius White Industries FINISHED pg21

As far as chainrings go 110 always look more appealing and less agricultural
Compact or 94BCD big rings always have a lot of extra metal in them.

I agree...

Right on with the 32hole wheelset I bought from “thesneaker” a while back.

Now these are a pretty lightweight set what with the Weinmann BCX red dot (front) rim weighing only 355g & the blue dot (rear) at 400g.
But as these were laced with standard spokes and a number of the aluminium nipples are snapped in half, I’ve ordered some double butted Sapims & new aluminium nipples as replacements.

These lightweight un-anodised aluminium rims are quite soft and thin, so I’m only going to give them a light buff with no sanding down of the machine ridges.

Anyway.. I wanted to fit at least one thing on it today, so where better to start than with the Head set?
A nice, boxed, VGC (almost NOS) White Industries aluminium Ahead one in fact, weighing in at 97g with sealed bearings… it even had it’s groovy sticker.. not sure where to stick it though? ( the graphic)

That headset is a thing of beauty  ... more deserving of a glass display cabinet than a bike

I've got a feeling that might not be the only component that some people might think shouldn’t be on a Claud... ;)

Just for the benefit of any new members to the forum... there’s only a 50/50 chance that a punchline might be in the offing..

Just remember to use a cassette with an alloy spider otherwise you may never get a steel one off again
