1994 / 96 Parkpre Pro Elite Ti - Retro-modern Winter Hack

Finally got this together and ready post results after too many distractions - including spending an obscene amount of time surfing for the next project. Damn Retrobike. Photo bomb on it's way.

Rotors and Calipers

Shimano XT / Saint RT79. Cool and stiff 5 arm jobbies. Far better than the floppy stock Avid Roundagons that rusted after only one winter. Total weight for the pair is 272 grams.

Calipers are the venerable Avid BB7 with Organic Alu brake pads. They have the small tabs removed from the brake pads to allow clearance with the XT rotors. Total hardware weight for the pair is 430 grams.

Would appreciate if someone could enlighten me exactly what Organic means, because I don't see them growing in the wild.

Frame

Naked finished frame after the disk tab comes in at 1570 grams. It's a 19" for reference.

The welding job is solid and satisfactory; not your small tidy welds from Lynsky but neither a botched job. It's all straight and true.

Saddle

Icing on the cake is a very retro 1994 San Marco Rolls Titanio. It's gone through it's seasonal refurbishment with a black marker pen, black shoe polish and a few coatings of horse saddle oil to protect the leather.

287 grams.

Seatpost

Titec X-Wing 27.2mm 330mm. Very solid and a good off-set for the Rolls. 272 grams.

Small Bits / Finishing Kit

New sets of brake cables and gear cable. Total weight is 113 + 47 = 160 grams.

Frame blanking bolts, cable guide, bottle cage screws and seat-post clamp. Since the picture, I changed my mind about the seat-post clamp and used a beefier simpler one. Total weight is 36 grams.

Bottom Bracket

Lightly used UN72 68/107mm. A few lashings of Teflon tape and heaps of Copper Paste keeps it firm and weather proof. I routinely drill off the stupid useless pressed on washer on the drive side axle. BTW: I don't grease the tapers a few squirts of WD40 only. 239 grams.

Pedals

Shimano XT M770. A cracking pedal IMHO - durable and fully servicable. Getting a bit tatty now but working fine. After a few spills on the ice they will be even tattier

352 grams.
