hehe, I'm surprised at how quick this has come together, 3 weeks to get to it's current build state, even I'm finding it hard to keep up

Just measured the chainline & it appears to be ~45mm (cranks not fully tight on BB) so I think I may need a new BB that's longer, Sheldon reckons it's a 122.5mm BB for a M730, no idea what's in at the mo but Sheldon reckons it should be 110.5-113mm as it was an Alivio MC10 RH crank

Anyone used a 122.5mmBB with M730 crank arms? Does it work as it should & give the right chainline?

That is the right length (122.5mm)
I'll bring one with me tomorrow you can use till you get a decent lighter one and to check the fit.

Just done a mock up 2x7spd build with all components fitted except inner gear cables and pedals (inner ring will have to wait until I have the longer bolts to fit it with)

Pics will have to wait as the build is close to the finish I want to get the whole bike stripped of components, thoroughly clean everything, add a few coats of AutoGlym car wax to the frame & polish up the brakes before posting final build pics

Oh weight wise it's 23.7lb (10.7kg to our metric friends)

Having a little bit of grief getting the BB out, but it will come out with a little help from the large vice at work. It looks like the BB has been put in the wrong way round, as the plastic cup was on the driveside :shock:

Hopefully I can retap the threads if they're not too damaged

LP/CP bottom brackets go in 'backwards' chances are with the Alivio stuff on there the bottom bracket was not top quality stuff

Andy that's the b.b. I installed it went in with grease and its not a shimano one so the cup was on the opposite side.

Cheers for the info Dave, I was cacking it a bit, didn't know that you could get a BB with the plastic loose cup on the driveside!

Well, just thought of a cunning plan.

BB tool held into my very heavy duty workstand just like a vice.

Use frame as a lever

30 mins later & still no joy

Gonna have to get one of the lads at work to get it out, I just cannot budge it
