Just bought a 92 Bravado on eBay.
Can someone help me out?
Frame is made of True Temper GTX Ultra III same as the 92 Psyclone.
What are the differences in these frames?
Is the only difference the Psyclone is brazed instead of welded?
Are the geometry's the same?
I know othing really if true temper how does the frame compare to equivalent tange and Reynolds frames?
Cheers.
Tony
Psyclone has lighter stays and is Fillet brazed in the USA very limited quantities and only sold as a frames set.
Bravado had heavier stays, similar geometry, was Made in Japan at Toyo. In both the 1992 and 1993 model years the Team Avalanche was the top of the line complete steel bike model in the GT line above the Bravado.
Your comparisons are not good. Trying to compare a Bravado production model Pontiac Grand Am to a higher end custom lower count Maserati. Think what you want, while similar they are different. Have both, in fact all three, including the Team Aavalanche.
In regards to the True Temper GTX Ultra III name it refers to the fact that True Temper made the groove tube top tubes for the 92 and 3 model year bikes. This was something that GT and True Temper worked together on. While the rest of the industry was doing "banjo strung" top tubes Bill Duehring and his team were searching for ways for cleaner cable routing and hence the groove tube. The Team Avalanche the same year had Tange Prestige Concept seat tube and downtube with the GTX groove tube top tube.
