1991 Alpinestars Al-Mega DX

Hi Nporternz, yes got the straddle wire/spring.

Legs are now fitted. Tried spraying the brace yesterday but it was a bit cold so the paint wasnt drying properly and I made a dogs dinner of it. Will flat it back and have another go when it gets a bit warmer.

So instead I thought I would sort some pedals out. I had a pair of tatty DX pedals.

After a bit of time and effort they ended up like this. Total cost was £1 for some matt black paint and about 50p for new bolts. I already had some new toe clips and straps. No doubt I could have found some nos pedals but where is the fun in that.

Fingers crossed I may get it more or less finished up at the weekend. And then onto the next one..

I don't think subtle is a word we can use for these forks. But the colour kind of works and at the end of the day it's no dramas to paint them back standard colours. I think gold would probably look a bit odd on this build anyway.

And I nearly forgot. A new USE decal from Gil. If this was a bike I intended to ride a lot I wouldn't have gone down the shimed post route. However I don't want to break the frame, not with their reputation, so probably won't ride it much and I had the post knocking about so why not.

I may finally get finished up this weekend. I say finished but it's already evolved and I have new wheels to build and still some parts to be anodised but that can be phase 2. Other bikes to sort first.

I wasn't looking forward to fitting the breakaway bolt as I havent done one in years. In truth it took about a minute and was super easy with some long nose pliers. Was planning to fit some purple Bullseye jockey wheels but they have gone awol at the minute so temporarily fitted my spare silver set.
