1990 Cannondale SM700 cruiser project

Recently I scored a severely worn SM700 in my size. Couldn't resist. Reminded me of the 90s when my main ride for many years was a 1990 SM2000.

The frame is pretty solid though it is missing the fork. Need to sort that out. Also need to find a wheelset with a 130 rear. This project will take awhile though I do have a lot of workable parts.

I would be way into that fork. I wonder if the steerer is long enough? The headtube is 4.5 inches. I do have a nice 1-1/4th Pepperoni fork.

I did find a nice wheelset today for this build.

Re:

Another reason I wanted this frame was because of the attached photo from the 1991 Cannondale catalog. I've always been a sucker for the old 1990s catalogs for many brands. At one point I had 20-30 Rockys.

The steerer is 5" long and the threads are 1 1/8"

I'm not sure what size frame it came off of - I bought the bike for $50 and found a crack on the top tube at the head tube, so the frame is long gone.

Re:

I think that would be too short. I haven't built up a threaded steerer bike in years but I think I would need 1.5-2 inches of steerer beyond the headtube length.

Anyone on the forum please correct. I'm a little lost on threaded steerers.
