The reason they are not "mopping up" is because it was a British company that created the mess not an American one. :)

Just lighting fires.:)

It was actually an American company working for BP that created the mess was it not?

...and in accordance with existing guidelines set up by the American government.

USA wants the revenue from the tax, but are then very quick to criticize the extraction company.

Double standards methinx.

Back to the more interesting topic of World Cup football, this was on the front of a paper on Sunday (referencing Maradon'a 'Hand of God' from 1986).

Other headlines I've liked recently include the puppet of Kim Jong-Il from 'Team America: World Police' with the legend "How do you solve a problem like Korea?" (reference popular reality TV show at the time 'How do you solve a problem like Maria?').

Sorry about the interlude, please feel free to get back to bickering about bikes

haha, I was just writing about such a comparison. "Hand of Clod"...ha!

there is enough blame to go around, and greed is the motivating common denominator. Yet, BP and other oil companies have the greater responsibility. Is it too much to ask that an extraction company, that has the technology to drill at 5000 ft below sea level, would also have the technology to address a breakage at that same 5000 ft below sea level. BP's president states that there has not been enough oil spills to address that technological need. WTF! He can't be serious. So they are using cleanup methods established in the 1970's.

Can't blame the US for that one. Though there are plenty of other things related to this disaster for which our government can be blamed.

BP should no longer exist, after this.
