1985 Ritchey "Team Comp"

Ascent is tigged. The picture bike is not. Decent chance it as a Team Comp, or at least a nicer "C" frame.

I know the ascent was tigged.

The bb area does appear to be fb'd (the rest of the pics are too small/blurry, but why would someone modify a Team Comp to have the chainstay mount, then throw on a set of suntour rollercams? Was this done? If so, it would be easy enough to explain it in the ad.

If the frame is FB'd, then perhaps it's a 85 Timber Comp; weren't they fillet brazed?

But I am interested in your explanation as to why you state, "decent chance it as a Team Comp". More decent a chance it is not. If fb'd, I revise my previous stament- I believe it to be a timber comp, which would up it's price to maybe as high as $800

I would hope the owner knows what he has, but the fork decal does say timber comb and it doesn't appear that the seat collar is peaked. That said, in 85 there were a lot of custom options.

In any case, I wouldn't pay $1550 for it. I am glad you wouldn't either since you slagged me in another thread talking about this bike when I suggested the price was hopeful ;)

I don't recall ever slagging you, (why are you vrc guys so sensitive  ), regarding a timber comp. I do remember you devaluing an 85 Team Comp, and I wasn't in agreement.

As for hoping the owner knows what he has, many owners do not, as I'm sure you are aware. Sometimes this works to the benefit of the buyer, who is knowledgeable, and sometimes it works against potential buyers who may not be all that knowledgeable- I'm sure you can infer correctly as to what I'm stating.

Sorry, I can't see the fork decal from the pics in the ad, did you inquire further on this one, and get better pics :)

So do we agree this is a Timber Comp? or is it a super special order Team Comp?

I'm not sensitive, just like a clear record - that bike was this bike. Same ad.

Understood, but this particular owner took the bike to a knowledgeable NorCal shop, one from back in the day, so I discounted it a little less.

It is blue. You should be able to see it in the pic. A Team not likely have a Ritchey 4130 fork.

We can agree that it is overpriced.
