1985 Ritchey "Team Comp"

I found this CL ad:

Ritchey Team Comp-Hand Made 1985 - $1550 (sausalito)

1985 Ritchey Team Comp Mountain Bike in excellent condition. This is a rare bike hand built Tom Ritchey. The vertical tube is 19". The forks, Frame, and brakes are original and i think I've still got the old components in storage. Own a piece of mountain biking history! These bikes go for as much as $4000 to collectors. This is a steal at $1550 or best offer.

perhaps I'm mistaken, but I believe only the Ascent and Timber Comp came with the chain stay mounted U-brake (suntour xc sport rollercam as pictured in his ad)
The 85 Team Comp has Cantilever mounts front and back (seat stay).
So this is most likely an Ascent or Timber Comp.

my money is on it being an Ascent which would make it worth anywhere from $200 to $400 depending on condition/parts/amount of potential buyers

Ascent is tigged. The picture bike is not. Decent chance it as a Team Comp, or at least a nicer "C" frame.

The bb area does appear to be fb'd (the rest of the pics are too small/blurry, but why would someone modify a Team Comp to have the chainstay mount, then throw on a set of suntour rollercams? Was this done? If so, it would be easy enough to explain it in the ad.

If the frame is FB'd, then perhaps it's a 85 Timber Comp; weren't they fillet brazed?

But I am interested in your explanation as to why you state, "decent chance it as a Team Comp". More decent a chance it is not. If fb'd, I revise my previous stament- I believe it to be a timber comp, which would up it's price to maybe as high as $800

The Glendenning minute-by-minute is usually a good read, as much after the event as in real time and reckon it will be the prime source of piss taking AND relevant World Cup critique (and if there's other places to look, please let me know).

It wasn't quite the Hand of God, but something gave us a bit of help, and I'm not so proud as to withhold a "Thank you".

Hell, we should have been up one, when our guy left your defender in the dust, but your goalie proved to be good for something. Oh well, a tie is as good as a win, today.
