1985 Cunningham Racer

Re:

Finally got the bike cleaned up and restored. No real glamour shots here, just hosed it off after a ride and itching to head back out tomorrow. Trying to decide if I can live with the rather large size. So far not too bad, but it ain't ideal.

All in all it didn't take a lot of work to bring this bike back. Despite the years of sitting around it was actually in rather good shape. A little bit of time with a toothbrush and most of the details came out nice and clean. The spare set of wheels came in handy as did a few other bits. Aside from the Specialized cranks and XT brake levers everything else is original. Overall I really like the ride, everything seems to work really nicely. All the bearings are tight, brakes work great - although I could file the pads some more to improve toe in. Otherwise it's pretty much there. More trail pics tomorrow.

Nice patina! This one doesn't have to look like new. Was just wondering why the welding is all over the toptube?? More strength?
