1981 Nishiki Master - Randonneur build

Swapped the arabesque cranks to these Sugino (Super?) Maxy ones and the RD to a Suntour Alpha 5000. I also added toe cages.

The stem was too short and I don't like roadbars with deep drop.
I use an old inner tube under the 0.5mm thick cotton bar tape to get a bit more confortable feel.

I forgot to wax the twine. The pic is of the old bars.

Front brake quick release open, front wheel valve cap gone, missing the bottle cage, front skewer and brake cable tails are all wonky. 🙈 With those fixed I think it should be all finished. Well maybe I'll add a bell and a front rack and swap the...

How do you find the inner tube under the tape? Looks wise versus comfort? Something I was thinking of doing on one of mine.
Well it feels soft and it's better than plain Velox cotton tape for example, maybe not as cushioning as cork tape, but I did it mostly because the cotton ribbon I used didn't have any glue so it's there to give more friction so that the ribbon wouldn't start to unwind so easily.
