1930s Selbach build

What a fab restoration! It's given me some push to get going again on my 30's Langsett. What size tyres have you fitted to those rims? I think my old rims may have to be replaced and i'm unsure what to use. I have 26 x 1 1/4 tyres at the moment.

Great work.

Re:

Hi, the rims on mine are 26" x 1 3/8", I originally fitted a pair of Michelin World Tour 1 3/8" tyres but then found out that the clearance in between the chain stays was too small.
After a bit of head scratching and thinking I was going to have to rebuild the wheels with 1 1/4 rims, I noticed that I had a pair of new Nutrak 26 x 1 3/8 tyres which - although marked as the same size as the Michelins - when inflated they are 6mm narrower!

26" x 1 1/4" tyres are very hard to find now, I have 2 Record Aces with 1 1/4 rims and have had to fit cheapo Taiwan tyres to them, they look OK but they're only pressure rated to about 60psi max which is alright for the bit of tootling about that they get.

Regards
Tony

Hi again, just an update on the final version of my Selbach rebuild.
BSA chainset refitted, the cranks were too long on the Williams one.
BSA centrepulls changed for Monitor Climax side pulls - these actually work as opposed to the BSA brakes that were awful.
Tyres replaced with some 650A-28 amber walls.
Grips changed for a pair of nice vintage ones.
Bantel alloy mudguards fiitted.
I'm happy with this now and riding it really does put a smile on my face!

A fab rebuild. Glad you were willing to adopt one or two compromises to make this lovely old thing rideable. Well done!
