19" 1993 Klein Attitude team dolomite colours Suntour XCPro - what's it worth (upto 4 different values please)

Kona Fan
Ritchey Fan
I'm thinking of parting with my old Attitude - still in its original somewhat faded and scratched paint - ripe for restoration with no cracks or damage I can see
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Values please in your opinions A) :-
As it stands - the only difference to the photo below - is its now wearing a mint polished American Classic seat post and equally mint period Flight Ti saddle

Pair of Klein Deathgrip tyres are NOS (bar ends removed because the new grips are complete and don't need 'ends)
Pair of Klein period handlebar grips are NOS

Rims are matching Ritchey, with SunTour XCPro WTB greaseguard hubs with original gum leavers
Everything else is Suntour XCPro including the WBT greaseguard pedals

seat skewer is Campagnolo
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Values please in your opinions B) :-
For the complete Fuselage
ie - frame, fork, headset, BB, mission control stem, probably with the new pair of DeathGrip tyre and new Klein Grips to complete the package)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Values please in your opinions C & D) :-
for options A or B above - but if I go for a full restoration on the frame/fork/stem in its original colours and decals.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I can start to decide whether to break her down for either sale or restoration of the frameset, or to sell complete or to sell the fuselage and XCPro Groupset separately

Cheers-all

My 2p worth;

Option A - Due to the fading and the current market £750-£1K as a complete bike.
Option C - If it was freshly painted by a known painter I'd say complete it could be £1.5k ish.

Option B - Fuselage as it is maybe £500-600
Option D - Fuselage restored maybe closer to £1k

I guess you can easily obtain restoration costs?

Whilst nice, fitting and correct, the Suntour stuff isn't worth that much.

Always fancied a tidy one of these myself, free of cracks and with good paint, uncut bars etc - so I'd find Option D most appealing personally.

Good feedback thanks, appreciated :D I'm still looking for somewhere that can do a faithful restoration in the correct colours so might do that, as they did look stunning new. I think you are right that restored they are £1500 these days (pre/post pandemic they were twice that), as there has been a lovely one on ebay for months and they still can't sell it (although that one the seller does admit there is a hairline crack in its seattube).

I would also be interested to know where other Klein owners have had their bikes repainted to good effect previously. I have heard names like Argos Cycles and Jon Rock - but I'm not sure on prices for a faithful 'Team Dolomite' restoration paint-job these days if I were to take the fuselage with head & bb bearings still fitted to have this done; or whether it would be viable cost-wise given the somewhat reduced value of these (and all 26'ers these days) that I guess are slowly falling out of favour (I must admit even I like riding a 27.5 MTB these days, and my eBike is a hefty great Cube 29'er full susser)

Original paint will always be more desirable than a repaint.

Even when done by the mentioned painters you can tell the difference from a Oe job.

Cost wise can be £700-1000 for a decent job.

When you come to sell it all the Klein boys will knock you down as it’s not original paint. But when they come to sell it’ll be a different story

The last Klein I sold , went to a guy who had the same colour but as a repaint. The difference between my OE paint and his was night & day.

My advice would be to sell as it is , don’t paint it unless you know you will keep it

Yes I was quoted £700 by one of the above painters for an original look finish, so I doubt I will ever do it now the values of them seem to have dropped. Its going to be for a lover and wanter of a 19" Attitude to buy as-is I expect. I will probably dismantle it all to a fuselage and stick it on ebay as frame/fork/bar-stem/head/bottom bearings for £950/best offer and leave it there indefinately until someone fancies it or makes an offer that's convenient to take. I guess I can get my £100-back selling the new Klein tyres and grips on here again to a Klein'ist. Otherwise I guess I do much the same on ebay with the complete bike for £1450/best offer, but to be honest I like an XC-Pro grouppo (and its rare to find a complete one, especially with the grease injector hubs and pedals), so I might just remove all that and treat my Overbury's Pioneer to a new premium period groupset that isn't XT/XTR for a change.

That's my plan for the new year anyway, and thanks to everyone for the pointers

Why would you sell it for 1.500ish, if JR charged you about 700 (+shipping) for a re-paint or DW charged you 900 (+shipping) for a re-paint?

Imagine this Fuselage here, freshly painted in Green/White/Magenta or HLF or Moonrise - including the original rigid Unifork (not the box fork) perfectly fresh and perfectly photographed for sale for 1.500.

Thats simply wishful thinking!

I wouldn't. If I got it painted it would be to keep, its not viable to paint and sell, I'd be better off just selling as is.

Sure thing ...and even in this condition: As long as the frame wasnt drilled out for V-brakes and stuff, you will always get your 1600-1900 Euros. The fading of the paint most of the times dont mean shaite! I know quite some enthusiasts who especially (!) look for those battered, faded but 1000% original models. Just as it is in the vintage VW camper van scene. The older and the more faded, the better an cooler. To many people.

Just sell it in Germany/Austria/France/Hungary etc. and forget about the Brexies and US-market. Theyre not comparable.
