I have. Mind you, I had the last time too

Planning on using it for the first lap only, or until I feel I should choose another one of my bikes from the back of the quad.

Re:

I'm writing this from London City airport and BA don't fly to Fort William from here so it'll be home tonight and an early start tomorrow morning. Might have blown my chances of winning outright. Did I mention I hate my job?

I'm taking the sunn handrail and club roost full suss. Probably start on the sunn then switch when the course gets roughed up later.

Re:

What a day! Ill post up more when i get home but had a really Good day. Managed 8 laps so Well chuffed considering the new course which was excellent, really really Good loads of nice new sections but a load more climbing.

Well in K, what a performance, you absolutely mullered that!

Managed 5 laps myself, which was the target I'd set, so happy enough. Real effort to convince myself to go out again after lap 4, needed to resort to energy food (poke of chips slathered in salt, vinegar and broon sauce) before I felt up to it.

Did the first lap on the old Rockhopper - happy to say it coped with it really well. Wouldn't have fancied doing the whole day on it though, and switched to the Stumpjumper after that. I'd taken the gears off the Moho and popped those on instead of the single-speed - really glad I did, much more climbing than I was expecting, and really suffered from cramp from lap 3 onwards. Nothing worse than being unable to freewheel because if you do your legs seize up. Ridiculous.

Course was very good, much better than when we did it 4 years ago, although that horrible never ending fire-road climb on the first part of the lap was still there. The one off-piste section didn't cut up too badly either, still rideable at the end. Weather was good too, although not as nice as the forecast. Mostly overcast, didn't see the sun much at all, was a bit drizzly at the start of the race and there was maybe a 10 minute shower in the afternoon.

Bumped into rumble on the club roost first two laps, but didn't see him after that. Saw one poor bugger stretchered off the mountain, all neck-braced up. And another sitting looking dazed holding his shoulder - the top part of the course was not all that technical, but was fast and rocky - easy to get carried away, but come off and it was going to hurt. Managed to get through the whole day without hurting myself, only came off once, landing in a nice soft bog on lap 1 after going too slow on boulder drop.

Radek - you were missed. I think you would have devoured all the climbing on the course, would have loved to see how many laps you would have managed. Really sorry about the car - main thing is you (and your bike) are both OK.

Sounds good Kaiser and ZZ, really well done.
You both sound like you had a great day and thats what its about.
More stories and opics guys, please.

Re:

Well done guys.
Great effort K, 8 was what our trio managed the first two years I did it.
Good to hear they changed the course, it was pretty uninspiring the last twice I raced.

Re:

Clubby the new course was excellent, it would make for a good days riding never mind just as a lap of an endurance course. The technical parts were just enough to be challenging but not enough to throw tired competitors, all in all I was very impressed. So much so that I didn't mind the fire road climb as the downhill was pretty good fun. Just uploaded my Garmin data and I ended up cycling 127.6km with 3622m of climbing, managed my first Epic suffer score anaw :)

No pics from me either I'm afraid, a guy I was with did take his Go Pro on a lap though. In other news the Gazebo of Love has left the building, it cracked when trying to assemble and has been consigned to the bin. I'm hoping to replace it with a pop up one at some point though.

Re:

Good effort for both of you. But must say that 8 laps are impressive. Friend of mine did same and he is darn fit guy. I just want forget about yesterday's morning. Next year I'll be there for sure! With my own name :)
