£10 to fit a spoke!!??

All I can say is - I hope you are very tolerant of workers from Eastern Europe who come to the UK and work below the going rate.

Because you are doing exactly the same. You're even undercutting other one-man moonlighting outfits at your prices.....

Ive replaced a broken spoke with one from my spares box.Was it the correct size...er no idea  tightened it more or less and rode it about for several months.
One spoke you should be able to replace yourself :?
I do run discs so i suppose the rim trueness isnt critical for me :?

Which is the difference between £2 and £10.

If they can do the job well it doesn't really matter to me who is there or what they charge. The cheaper the better IMO.

I Will admit that I'd rather have quality than cheapness but if I can have that same quality at a cheaper price I'm happier!

Its excessive prices that are destroying our economy and putting most LBS out of work. If you can undercut and still make a profit then I'd say go ahead because there's nothing wrong with having the best value for money.

I suppose I didn't really think the original post through but I was more annoyed with the other shop telling me it'd take 2-3 days for a job I could do in 10-15 minutes.

When i was at the shop we used to work on a date order system starting from what's been in the longest working towards what had just come though the door, we would try and squeeze in small jobs like yours but sometimes it was implausible as we were so busy and slightly behind, some customers used to throw proper temper tantrums because they wanted it done there and then the worst (not implying you or people here) being the ones that brought top end bikes online and not from us and had no idea how to do the basic basics implying we should stop working on others bikes as they had brought a top end bike and it was more important and should be done to A1 now as thats the service it requires and we should bow down in its greatness

I used to be the one that was stitched up to reality check then with diplomatic reasoning that "were busy and there's a queue and that yes your bike is nice and no it doesn't let you jump the line" followed by if they persist and are rude with "did you buy the bike from us sir"       im so glad i work offshore again
