Kona Explosif 1997 team edition

I may have asked this before, but is this the same "Columbus Kona mountainbike" that was listed to eBay back in 2016? If so, I was one of the other bidders who lost! Part of me wishes I had bid more to win, but honestly, I can't think of a better person to own and restore this beautiful '97 than you Alasdair! It has my vote for the upcoming BOTM.
I'm pretty sure that's the one, with such a poor title hardly anyone noticed it and Brian, who at the time was on a Kona buying spree, was the winning bidder. Luckily for me, it was the wrong size and after he chatted with Pip to try and identify the frame, he kindly connected us together and the rest is history.

Thank you for your kind words too 🥰

Cracking suite of photos - the bike looks delicious and I love how all the colours come together.

The whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.

Now that @al-onestare is a build thread.

Just Netflix'd it completely from start to finish. :p

Ps. the Facebook thread escalation was bizarre but fun!

Mingling in with many star-studded machines :) Sporting the pristine yellow flite for the special occasion.

After a long hiatus it was great to get on Ryder. Now I feel more confident riding thanks in to the modern bike (Bee) and getting more familiar with the terrain (rock, rock, and some more rock), it was really notable just how capable the bike is. For all it's stiffness, you can chuck it about far more than I gave it credit previously. It seems to thrive on that.

Of all the fleet, when I post a picture of him on IG, it always gets the most likes 👍

Still a beauty. Maybe my favorite of yours as well. Have you considered a black Chris King beadset and black race face cranks ? Too "modern"?
