Has it got a frame number?

My Carrera Virtuoso. Very few pics of this or the Epic considering how many miles they've covered and how long I've owned them for. A0A81789 - Year 2000

My old Carrera Epic. Brother is using it these days, so it is still in the family. U11109036 - The frame number seems to suggest a November 1991 date, and from the same factory that produced Diamondback and KHS bikes.

I believe you've just sold this, but there's the faint outline of large Shimano Deore XT sticker both sides of the downtube.

How badly do you want it?

I can say with some certainty this time around that it is 1993 built.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all. The Diamondback Andean. Possibly the first time this has ever graced Retrobike. Did anyone discuss how much additional benefit there is to aero in a 20mph head wind?

The forks are 1999 model, the Shimano components are 1999 or 2000 era (check the date stamp for those), and the frame number isn't a GT format I recognise. Would start S7 or S8 for 1997 or 1998 though. @kingoffootball will be along soon...

Are we talking modern CRC/Wiggle Nukeproof, or the old carbon mid 90s hubs?

If you have an Evo 4 in your hands, the frame number would put a fairly precise date on it for you - and I can add it to my records.
