Wanted 26 x 1-3/8 rim for Sturmey Archer hub Front

I had a dynohub like that in my Hercules as a teenager. I could never get the headlight to achieve anything better than a weak orangey glow. Tried all sorts of bulbs with different ratings

Advice on buying first vintage road bike?

The price is not my business, but remember it's a buyer's market so haggle hard if you want it. He'll have a bigger job selling than you have buying

Advice on buying first vintage road bike?

The 3 speed Hercules I had as a teenager had plenty of standover height. Didn't stop the nads taking a battering when it slipped into neutral

Advice on buying first vintage road bike?

You nearly lost me with 'fixie', that hipster word for a fixed wheel bike. But I stuck with it . You may be correct, but the 'fixie' user is a fairly minority cyclist. Most of the reviewers and folk who feel overlap is a consideration ride geared bikes

Advice on buying first vintage road bike?

So true. On a tangent to my post (rant?) the other measurement I can never get my head round or see the importance of is bike stand-over height. If it fits whilst you're riding, it fits. Moser's hour record bike must have the worst stand over height ever
