For Sale Marin Palisades Frame & Forks

Can't tell if it's a road or MTB frame. If it's the latter, you may get more interest on the MTB side of the forum

    Clearing the shed and garage

What you going to do with it all? Scrap (properly scrap)?, sell? Offer FOC to other riders? Donate to a bike charity? I'm finding myself in that quandary. I haven't got the energy to sell or karma it out on an individual basis and I hate chucking stuff away on the basis that it'll be needed...

    Old Carlton: Dropout/Wheel Size confusion.

It will not be 140-150. If it is, then something has gone drastically wrong. Modern standard is 130 road, 135 mtb

    Old Carlton: Dropout/Wheel Size confusion.

What probably happened (or one idea) is the dropouts had an old width standard (120 or 126mm). When the frame builder came to repair your frame, he used a frame jig with the modern 130mm and brazed it all up as such. If this is what happened, he should have discussed it with you. Depending on...

Too few threads on my fork - solutions?

I usually like your posts but ..... The Would you stand up in court ..... statement. Well no. But that goes for most things with the state of today's litigation. Did you really make a considered decision when you tested your bike for 50 yards on the street while not wearing a helmet? Would you...

Help! Mavic Aksium Race 2010 cassette swap problem 10 speed 12-25 replaced with 11-36

Try it on another bike. Daft as it sounds, the dropouts, both front and back can creak where the skewer doesn't get proper purchase on the dropout and no lube makes it creak. It's an easy fix. Just clean everything and put a very thin layer of lube on the dropout

Help! Mavic Aksium Race 2010 cassette swap problem 10 speed 12-25 replaced with 11-36

Maybe needs another shim at the back. Not to distance it from the hub , but to pack it out. I assume it's a 11 speed freehub and you have a 10 speed cassette. Especially as you say there is some play. Maybe I've misunderstood, it's difficult to grasp without seeing and playing

I've tried GT85 and it's mucky. It coats the chain in a yucky brown sauce, which then goes black and seems very thin. I now use WD40. Yes WD = water displacer, not lubricant, but it seems to work ok. It's fairly clean, fairly cheap, wipes off easy at bike cleaning time, doesn't seem to have...
