Brake /gear outers should either be black or XTR grey. If any other colour is used it simply makes it look like a cheap kids bike . No exceptions.

Dropouts aren’t anything like the Hots. Deffo a mid range 98/99 frame. I don’t think people tend to down grade models so at best it’s a Kilauea but also maybe a caldera (not the cool one)

Personally I think it’s a later (98/99) Kilauea that the owner had painted in the scheme but had the years matching decals too. But obviously didn’t get the correct tubing ones.

Set up some search alerts on eBay and browse the fb groups.

Yes I understand they are different. My comment is that M70/R are often on ebay for £5 and the M70R2 have hundreds available. Nothing rare about either.

They come up often and aren’t rare. The V brake versions there are literally hundreds on eBay. I bought a massive joblot of various XT / XTR pads for about £20 years ago.
