I’ve planned for this situation by doing spreadsheets for each bike and realistic selling prices for each part or complete. So if the worse happens they have a bit of guidance. It will also help when I do decide to leave the hobby as I can list stuff and do an inventory easily.

The rare / nice stuff sells super easily still. Many are hoarding rather than selling currently from personal collections. All the people that complain about the ones who buy bikes to split (keeping what they need) are likely now realising that the parts which they sold kept the market alive.

There’s very little bikes up for sale at the moment in the usual places. Which limits the parts for sale. Combined with the fact it’s not worth buying anything mid to low spec as it simply isn’t worth anything when you come to sell it. I used to be happy to buy a bike for one high end part...

They do come up fairly regularly (and I’m not even looking for one). If you trying to keep it cheaper. I’d go for a powder , add decals yourself , and then bribe a local car painter to flick some lacquer over it.

You’ll struggle to find anyone to lacquer over powder unless it’s a clear powder but then that creates issues with decals and heat. Are you using water slide or vinyl decals? Or do what I did on my Dekerf and go painted decals? Any wet painter is going to be closer to £300. I still think...
