    Long shot frame id

When I put this picture up on my brothers big ass tv, it is quite obvious it says Witcomb... He picked it out without even having read this post to plant the name in his head... He is not a bike guy....

    Help identifying some old iron...

Ok... So I scored this frame to build up as a commuter, and I am baffled... It is old, and I am prety sure it is American (the "25" size is a giveaway,,) that is all I know.... Lugs appear to be Nervex, but not sure... Fork crown and head lugs are chrome... There is a AM stamped on...

    1" forks

Chris King makes special headsets that will allow you to use a 1" fork in a 1 1/8" frame.... Some other companies sell spacers to allow you to use the 1" headset and fork in the 1 1/8 frame.... Both work great, but the Chris King is the coolest... I believe it is called a "Devolver" EDIT...

There be something missing here ......

Scrapbox lash up stickered build?? That is a great bike.... but, the cranks on that thing are worth more than I spent on my entire first MTB... I put stickers everywhere to hide the fact that my bike came from Sears. But most of my stickers were car related(Edelbrock, Holley...

    What exactly is 'period correct'?

When everyone I hang out with uses the term "period correct" It means that when you were modifying your car, you picked a period of time, and got all the parts you wanted that were from that period... If you had a 60's bug, and decided you liked the way people did their customizing in the...

How to tell the difference ?

Also, remember that any frame designed for Canti's can also use V's... You just don't use the cable hanger... On the rear of a frame, if it doesn't have the center cable hanger, you can get one that attaches with the seat post clamp... On non suspension forks, you can use a hangar that...

    Coyote Cracked

Any reputable fabricator with a TIG welder should be able to weld that up with no problems... The only issue is cleaning off the weld inside the tube for the headset to fit... Shouldn't cost you more than a few bucks...

    Campagnolo Stheno rims worth anything?

Then I should look into aerospace engineering... I have had no problems setting them up I cheated and stuck some of that sticky backed sandpaper for the orbital sanders on the rims. I used it to pre-profile the shoes to match the concave rims... :) I might just leave the old wheels laced...

    Modern cleaning methods

I got one from the machine shop I worked at... Just needed a new on/off switch.. I use a lot of dishwasher or laundry soap(Tide being my favorite) I got it for VW carbs and gun parts, but I use it for everything...

    Campagnolo Stheno rims worth anything?

Not a money question.... A function one.... I am rebuilding the wheels on my ALM-1, and it came with a set of Stheno rims on it.. I have read lots of reviews on the net, and most complain of them having a tendency to crush under braking... I am putting most of that down to them not...
