BITD all my stickers were plastered over the tool box...my bike cost me too much in paper rounds to go defacing with freebies off the front of MBUK.

+1

I have always been a complete fanny and my bikes were always nicely turned out even BITD. Stickers? Yuk!

My Maverick was a parts mash up, DeoreII mechs, Lee Chi brake levers, Hi-gear index shifters (that looked a bit like Deore), stickers and cosmic trail pink pads.
My Holdsworth stayed pretty much factory apart from the DeoreII mechs from the Maverick replacing the standard Deore mechs. No stickers were added as I had grown up a bit.
My Rockhopper was brought as a frame with the parts coming mostly from the Holdsworth, with the addition of Cook Bros Cranks. Again no stickers were added.
Could I build a parts mashup today, unless I can find a Maverick GT in 19" nope.

Carl.

scrapbox lash up stickered build

but a bit BITD and one of my most enjoyed bikes

Scrapbox lash up stickered build?? That is a great bike.... but, the cranks on that thing are worth more than I spent on my entire first MTB... I put stickers everywhere to hide the fact that my bike came from Sears. But most of my stickers were car related(Edelbrock, Holley, Moroso,etc...).... I worked at a bike shop during the summers, and my boss made me park my bike where nobody could see it... :) Yes, it had cheap crappy parts, but they were the best cheap crappy parts I could afford, and I was happy... Later, when the Ano craze hit, anybody could make their POS look like a racer by simply throwing a bunch of purple parts at it..

I'll have to get some old film developed, keep meaning to but can't be arsed. Used to have an ano blue Zaskar LE, with Ringle, Hope, Paul's, WTB, Mag 21's, Syncros, Flite, Kooka (Krap!), and the mandatory teddy bear zip-tied behind the seat tube, etc......all of my bikes too have been custom ones. Always saved my pennies up where I could. And yes the Zaskar was covered in decals too, mainly my name, a few Ringle ones, Hope ones and the odd Stif cycles ones too - as at the time they were simply the coolest shop on the planet!

Must get the photo rolls developed.

the cranks were bought for next to nowt as the non drive side was cracked (suprise) so i welded them and re-machined and heat treated them ,the rest was the bits that come with other stuff ie the frame was in with a new xt headset ,nib seatpost and some other bits
the frame was just gravy the rest of this bike is of the same ilk

This was my teenage build and is EXACTLY the same as it was then.......

Apart from tyres,grips,seat and post

I have owned all the components since bitd and got my actual frame back a couple of weeks ago :D :D :D 8)
