Today's Ride

After some days of heavy rain the sun came out today by late morning. I wanted to try out my 88 Cindercone that is now finished and I have been eying up this particular section of one of my dog walks where cycling is not really encouraged but I thought I would see if it was quiet enough at least to take some pictures. As it happened there was nobody around and I finally got the chance to slalom through this magnificent avenue of beeches. Fantastic fun and the bike was very smooth indeed...37 years old...I was 32 when this bike was built.:eek::eek:

Went out yesterday, no photos as it was effin freezin. 🙃
Three of the group had an ice ambush on the way to the meet up spot :(
Riders and bikes mostly ok, but we cut the route short so we could avoid the hills and trundle along at sea level.

Out a bit later than usual today, riding the '98 Explosif. Never have a bad ride on this one -- very responsive and fun. Trundling along the usual dirt road I saw an Echidna on the side of the road.

It curled up into a ball (as above) when I stopped but I waited quietly for it to stick its nose out. Video here.

Last year whoever is working to develop the 'badlands' section which is most fun for MTBs set up a gate which was a total joke as you could just ride around it -- but they've now placed a row of boulders to supplement it, which should keep out cars and 4x4s but not an intrepid MTBer -- easy to get over.

And so we had a bit of a play among the trees and rocks before tooling home again. A bit cool for summer but at least it's light later, so these evening rides are possible.
