Today's Ride

No big miles today, saw it was meant to piss it down thjis aft so I thought yeah quick 25/30 miles or so. Set off, five mins later:

Nothing gets the heartrate up like swapping a tube at the side of a 50 road! Got it done relatively quick (for gp5000 standards anyway) but wanted to avoid the rain so just looped through town, grabbed a couple tubes from the lbs and got smacked by a headwind for 30 mins on the return trip.

It was wet and fairly miserable today, I’ve also got a stinking cold, but the Friday ride had been planned in advance so onwards it was. Having a riding buddy is a great motivator to get out sometimes.

Sorry only two photos. We ended up doing 40 miles mostly in the rain, pretty soaked when I got back despite my waterproof. Some of the 40 miles was the blue route at Thetford forest, I’m sure many of you know. Very pleasant easy single track with a few berms.

Portuguese cafe stop in Brandon on the way to the forest has great coffee and cakes.

A quick stop mid trail was all I managed on the route. Was very pleased to get back to the heated seats in the car!

Great ride today, absolutely golden out there this time of year. Temps were perfect so me n Ingola went to Larose Forest. Did about 20km through mixed pine and hardwood forest, the trail surface went from leaf strewn to dry hardpack to soft pine needles, and always plenty of roots. RockRat is still the greatest bike in the world, they should have stopped designing bikes after they came up with this one. Everyone buy an old Hardrock

You know that thing, where it never looks as steep in the pictures as when you are standing there, looking down it? 20251003_134632.webp Looks like a pretty easy little trail, no?
This one was so bonkers I had to take a second pic in order to show the actual steepness of it.
