oy had wunnuh deesa wunza too! :p

IIRC was able to work out that it was the Competition model and in the same livery as your iron

purchased at a drive-in theatre marche des pousses located in San Jose, California back in the mid-LXXX's

it was fitted with Verot Competition cottered steel chainset 55 and Verot 34 bottom bracket, Huret Allvit gear ensemble, Titan stem/bar set, Weinmann centrepull arrestors, Atom 440 pedals, plain saddle pillar

research yielded a birth estimate of MCMLXVII

You can see in the brochure that I posted that the "Competition" was with Campagnolo drivetrain and the "Super Sport" with Allvit.
I would assume the bike was not sold as new in the states

The frame was manufactured by Jonas Øglænd in Sandnes Norway. Allegedly 200 frames were made with 531 tubing.

I have a pair of mod. 68 levers, but for another restoration project.

The serial number for the Monark is 2303505

The p-spring cover cup on the Gran Sport measured 5mm's so it's from late 1953-56

Given that, the fives in the serial and the "55" on the handlebars I would say the bike is from 1955

had saved a photo to me HD of one nearly identical to the one owned

when went to post it it would not display

over at bikeforums we had a posting in 2019 of the top of the line example from 1962
it was all Campag Record kitted with Weinmann centrepull brakes

pulled it back up only to discover that the images posted had gone up the chimney

recall it as being an off-white or very light grey/beige colour

I have two sets of these waiting for 650b wheel build. These use a proprietary cassette system, either 5 speed with 122mm? axle spacing or 6 speed with 126mm? The freehubs are different length between the speeds and 6s cassette will not fit on the 5s hub. The cassettes are like Shimano UG cassettes but the diameter is a bit smaller. The ratcheting system is build into the hub body not cassette body like on Shimano.

That's a bummer. Would have been nice to see the 1962 model. I've only seen three of those DBS's on the internet.

Saddle quiz.

1. Cinelli Unicanitor, late 60s/early 70s

2. Brooks B5N, 70s?

3. ADGA No.29A, early/late 70s

the ADGA 28A was the stock equipment on Peugeot models such as A08, U08, AE08 and several others for a long period

name an acronym of founder Anders Gallet
