Today's Ride

Much the same route again for today's ride: Up Barrow Court Lane towards Bristol airport. This time I went a little further & descended through the scenic (and fast) Brockley Combe rather than the vertical downward scramble on the shit tarmac towards Backwell that had me wearing out my brake pads last time

If you zoom in loads on one of the shots you can see some of Bristol 👌

I've learned over the years that, if I don't take a week off after about three months I great really cranky and significantly more contrarian than is reasonable, that's not me, so this week just gone has been a mental health week off. I've actually not ridden much, 50% working in the garden , which needs it and 50% working on bike projects. Sounds like a reasonable compromise 😄 I did scoot out for a ride at sundown this evening though on a just completed build.

I'm not sure why I don't take some tools with me on 'first rides' after a build. I should know better by now. But half way through this ride, my saddle came loose (never had that happen, ever, before) So half the ride was done standing up, which was cool when I was in my 20's, but now...bl**dy hell!!). I guess it's bike ju-ju for putting a Tioga seat post on a Breezer...sorry - I do have a Ritchey one coming!

I wonder what an Oak tree tastes like?. I can't imagine it would be great, but I could be wrong? Has anyone tried one? Let me know if you have.

My standard contre-jour bike shot. Despite the saddle issue, this bike is a gem - love it!!!

Last night's spin. Ten of us headed out on our regular POETS ride. Was like the Wacky Races. Never more than 5 miles from Lewes (where we all live), but most of my fellow riders didn't have a clue where they were most of the time.
Lots of secret bridleways looping back on themselves and 2000ft of climbing in 20 miles - confusing and fun PXL_20250627_171021535.webp PXL_20250627_165558077.webp PXL_20250627_165552410.webp PXL_20250627_163711718.webp PXL_20250627_155839235.webp .

Not jealous at all. Not one bit.
