after Saturdays chopper show, I was given a rare Raleigh maverick metropolitan, with a knackered seat post, first job will be to clean and strip it and try to get out the stuck post

They were just Raleigh Metropolitan. It has the same frame as the Maverick and Mustang, and probably some others, but there was no Maverick Metropolitan.

just relised what you said, your thinking of the mk3 version with the mig welded forks n 18-23 frame! nope, this one is the mk2 version maverick. mkk 1 was the tange frame by bridgestone. version 4 was the 531 18 pro and ozark, while the series 5 was with the same frame as the mirage 501. series 6 being the pioneer style gravel bike in alloy.
