Surely there must be stock pics somewhere on the internet that will show the same on another frame if factory/?

I’m guessing that because you’ve mentioned a blemish on the Seat stay and there is the clearance crease (if that’s the correct word) he’s getting mixed up.

i remember the tiny little ding of 2/3mm was at top of one of the seat stays and hardly noticeable and really hard to photograph but we did for the original listing

this wasnt even photo'd by the customer he was referring to the "huge" "deathtrap" "deadly" factory formations around the bb and chainstay

Hello again I am sorry I cant see any damage or dents in the pictures that you have provided all we can see is the normal factory forming you would find on a Cannondale r700 from the models year the frame safely left the factory under Cannondale's then safety standards as it is other than the very small hardly noticeable knock/ding about 2 to 3mm as shown in the original advert the frame left here in very good condition and structurally very sound none of our staff missed anything many CAAD formed Cannondales have factory metal and hydroforming techniques used to create the frames going back to the early mid 90s there is nothing wrong in the pics you have sent and the frame is not dangerous at all please take it or ask another Cannondale specialist to get a second opinion and they will tell you the same from the photos you have sent that these are standard factory forming not damage please also check the same frame and year against other pictures of the frame online [which there are many] and again you will see exactly the same factory forming of exactly the same frame regards rebike"​

He’s noticed the clearance crease and immediately thinks it’s damage. He reads the advert again to see if it’s mentioned and you refer to seatstay damage (albeit different)

You are both taking about 2 different sections of the frame.

i see what your getting at but surely anyone who knows what 2 to 3 mm is would know that that doesnt add up to the 4" inches of "damage" near the bb

But you forget that sellers also lie. (Not saying you have) about the size of damage.

Walk yourself in your head through the process if you find apparent damage on a newly purchased frame as a buyer. Also one which is slightly “off”

You notice the crease (not knowing its factory) …. He fires up his laptop and reads the advert and looks at pics again. You mention the seatstay damage but no pics of that area. He also now starts thinking the chainstay clearance is also an issue too.

He then sends the initial message which you reply with no actual physical proof of what you claim. EBay will side with him if that initial message isn’t convincing enough if you are a business.

You need to lay it out clearly that those items are factory clearance and include pics of others. Then highlight that you were referring to a different area of damage which just happens to be on the seatstay too which has created the confusion.

There’s no reasoning with people like this, I’m just going to say. And how can he polish the frame and not notice a dent in the chainstay that HE thinks is unusual?(not saying it is, it’s seems perfectly normal to me)

This is definitely a thing going on on ebay, I’ve heard another story like this before not long ago. Praise message, seller responding, buyer angry because of some damage that was caused by him or just some factory dent, gets ebay involved and has himself a refund.

A strange eBay customer at work buys a frame

sends long winded msgs of praise and how his build will be biblical

Then next day sends msgs of abuse of how we could send a frame that is a death trap and has 4 inches of damage and bends in his frame suddenly

sends pics

no damage at all from what we can see
Just usual knurls and forms of chainstays so that the chainrings don’t slice through it

won’t have it at all that it came out the factory like that

you can’t make this stuff up

Or does he work with you?
