Cycling: is there a spiritual side to it?

I like to pretend i'm a night fighter and the cyclist who i am reeling in is a fat HE 111. People bang on about helmets but i notice people that wear them never look behind ? So i sneak up and machinegun them in my thoughts before coming alongside and saying Hello:) I always look behind because an ME109 could come from anywhere ! So no time for spirituality it's dog eat dog out there.
PS, Is this normal.
One must consider the definition of normal before one can truelly find inner peace.

So it was you who looked back just as I was imagining blowing your ass to hell and back with my phasers before I headed into warp drive .

Yep, perfectly normal. As you were.

Cycling is 'spiritual' now? Oh please.🙄

In fairness I think there's a legitimacy to calling it spiritual, it's just unfortunate that people instinctively associate the word with religion or indeed the bastardised western appropriation of Eastern philosophy and spirituality.

Spirituality doesn't have to be that, it can be anything that affects the human spirit. Cycling certainly does that for me, gives me strength and clarity. And peace of mind.

What's so 'spiritual' about trying to figure out what stronglight chainrings to buy?
I find it rather annoying than soothing really.😂

Why do people always have to search for some sort of deeper meaning in everything?

Just what existence is isn't it? From the very moment human beings were capable of symbolic and conceptual thought we've been wondering why the feck we were trusted with those capabilities.

Now we realise why.

To find out which Stronglight chainring to buy.

The question then for this thread is, do you feel there is more to a ride than mastering the bicycle and the terrain and becoming fit?

Maybe you misunderstood the question.
