A heavier post with a thicker wall will act as a mandral if you chamfer the end and grease it. Buy a gash modern post
Best way forward that - I'm miles from a bike shop and messing around with a reamer will be the last course of action.

The end target ....
Something less racey means:
1) A fairly decent and robust wheel set to be made. Tyre clearance looks excellent without the mudguards.
2) No drop bars. Like the idea of wide curly whirly moustache bars that will give me something a bit more upright but not something cramped up either. I may be forced into a new-ish bar and stem set-up. The old bar clamp diameter is a weird 25mm thing.
3) Some Mafac center pull brake calipers and nice brake levers.
4) Fix the gearing. The lowest tooth count for the front using the Stronglight 3-arm crank seems to be a 45/47 combo, I'm thinking of taking it down to a single ring crank around the 38 or 42 ball park. I want to push that Simplex rear mech to see in practice if I can get away with a 6 speed and a 27T large sprocket.

So unlikely that derailleur has the travel on its push rod....5 ooh maybe! 6 is highly unlikelyI think for ease, originality 14-24/6 with a different chainset that will take smaller rings. Stem is not a worry as Woz is in France, change for 25.4mm clamp 22mm steerer.
Agreed hope for 5, 6 can't see it. Put up with 4 thoughSo unlikely that derailleur has the travel on its push rod....5 ooh maybe! 6 is highly unlikely![]()
I'll find some time Sunday and get some measurements done see what it could have as a capacity. I think with 5 it might be possible with recentering the hub ...nudge it up closer to drop out...Agreed hope for 5, 6 can't see it. Put up with 4 though![]()
